Bendigo IPTv will formally launch its local IPTV service online in partnership with Telstra on Friday October 1.

Bendigo IPTv is a locally-formed and operated company, developed to bring a community-style progams to the Bendigo region using broadband technology.

Owned by a group of locally-based shareholders, Bendigo IPTv will deliver locally produced programs to reflect and promote the aspirations of the city.

The group of shareholders had identified a gap in television programming, and found that improving technology meant TV audiences had a greater choice of channels, but limited access to local programming.

About two years ago the group realised broadband technology would continue to evolve to the point where it would be possible to stream a continuous IPTV signal to homes.

When that occurred, they knew establishing a new local communications outlet serving local needs would be feasible.

That time is now.

Bendigo IPTv is starting with a modest but solid base of local programming and will continue to build their content over time.

Locals are encouraged to get behind the initiative by emailing their feedback and program ideas to info@bendigoiptv.com
